This is an ongoing Gallery of a pair of American Bald Eagles, nesting and raising three Eaglets. The nest is about 50 miles from home so I don't get there every day.The nest is about 1/4 to 3/8 of a mile away, so some of the shots are not sharp and some are grainy especially on days that are overcast. I am trying to get better shots but lack a high quality long lens.
The nest is located about 12 miles south of I 80 near Princeton Ill on Ill. Rt29 just after you exit I 180 to Peoria onto Rt29 and just north of Putnam Ill.
Thank you for visiting my gallery and please leave a comment with your thoughts, in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

06 16 2009 Getting out there
06 17 2009 Parent and two eaglets
06 17 2009 One moving out to branch suspect its oldest
Although I havent seen more than two at any time today I think this is the oldest because of where it is sitting. They can be down in the nest on the far side or behind a limb where you can't see them. In the past at times the nest looked empty but they were all three there. However it may be no 2 and the oldest has fledged but I havent seen it flying around.
06 18 2009 No 2 now taking a higher perch as no 1 spends most of it's time out on a limb
06 18 2009 Parent checks in
06 18 2009 Can't tell apart by size anymore just by actions
06 19 2009 Start of day Parent and two eaglets
06 19 2009 One eaglet off the nest I think it is no 2 I havent seen all three yet today
06 19 2009 This confirms this is no 2 he as made several attempts to take this high perch that no 1 normally occupies
06 19 2009 Attains the height but not the stability
06 19 2009 Missed the nest when he came back down
06 19 2009 Ended up down here on a limb not sure it can get back to nest
06 19 2009 Parent returns Jr still out on a limb
Again today I have only seen two eaglets but none flying around other than a parent. I am leaving earlier than I would like due to thunderstorms and rain in the area. I am anxious to return tomorrow to see the fate of the one out on a limb below the nest and see if I can locate all three It has been difficult with all the leaves providing hiding places.
06 20 2009 The youngest exersizing it's wings
06 20 2009 Parent returning to nest
06 20 2009 Oldest one had fledged and is returning to the nest
06 20 2009 Youngest now getting some height
06 20 2009 All present and accounted for no 2 still stuck on the limb
06 20 2009 New position for no 2 hopefully it will get enough courage to atempt a short flight to the nest
06 21 2009 Only the yougest remains in the nest no sign of millde eaglet It must have gained enough courage to fly
06 22 2009 Three present when I arrived today
06 22 2009 Parent flies by and drops a fish in the nest without stopping
06 22 2009 The two older have returned to the nest to dine
06 22 2009 Only the youngest left in the nest area now 2 down and 1 to fledge
066 24 2009 Youngest getting higher up on the limb now
066 24 2009 And getting further away from the nest now
066 24 2009 Going from side to side frequently
06 26 2009 No eagles present all the eaglets have now fledged
Now that all the eaglets have learned to fly there will only be sporatic activity at the nest. The parents will still provide food at the nest for awhile till the juveniles learn to hunt and fish on their own and will from time to time build and maintain the nest to mark it as theirs and have it for next year. Thanks to all who have returned to this gallery to follow the progress of the eaglets.
