04-07-05 riotous

After a couple of days of protest action in Edinburgh, the day the police were worried about dawned.
By 10.30am we were getting emails through telling us that all staff in Edinburgh should be careful,
and not get involved with any of the protests. By 12.30pm the tone of the emails had changed
significantly, giving thinley veiled warnings that the protests were likely to descend into violence.
Less than two hours later, came this warning.

"ALL BUINESSES IN CENTRAL EDINBURGH SHOULD CLOSE IMMEDIATELY AND ALL STAFF SHOULD REMAIN INSIDE"

Seeing the scenes last night you can't help but wonder if the good work resulting from the Live 8
concerts at the weekend, was going to be overshadowed by a couple of minority groups intent on
causing as much disruption altogether.

Either way it made for a very long, very stressful day. Having got home, rather than watch the
scenes being played out time and time again, due to the almost pornographic interest there in these
things I went out for a walk. The picture above was the result!

Hopefully things will calm down on the 5th.....

You know, I'd have a very differnt view of things if i'd just read the emails and the news. Makes you wonder about every other thing we hear on the news. Yeah, there was trouble. But it's the action people want to see, it's the action the press show them... While blowing everything out of the water somewhat.

The little spots on the petals of the otherwise beautiful flower make a nice symbolic statement to complement your caption. Of course the other bloom, ripped down to one petal, let's just hope it was some moon-eyed lass playing 'loves me, loves me not'.

Jeez. I am all..metaphoric or something. I need a dose of gangsta rap.
