In more ways that one.
I had high hopes for the evening. Scotland had a crunch game in the world cup qualification
competition against Belarus. We really needed to win after a slow start to the championships.
There were high hopes, the dawning of a new era, more spirit, more fire, more like the Scotland of
old. Preparations were made, the classic ’78 was dug out & worn with pride, the drinks were in the
fridge, and snacks ready.
In the end, the preparations were in vain, last nights start was grim. A draw was as good as it
got, and it wasn’t enough. We needed the win, and I think we went out far too cautiously. But
despite the tactics and the result, you’ve got to take it on the chin, hold your head high, get
ready for the next game. As Chris would say, its time to bring the brim down low.
Anyway, as I watched the whole game, consequently I didn’t get a chance to take any other photos in
the evening, which brings me neatly back to that title…...
