Aberdeen -> Leeds.
Travelled down to Leeds on one of the smallest planes imaginable. Normally I’m not a nervous
traveller, but when it comes to being thrown around in a small turbo prop, whilst you watch the
runway though the open door of the cockpit moving around in front of you, it tends to make you a
bit more aware of how precious things are. Especially when your colleague tells you coming into
land she wished she’d send her friends a text message before we got on telling them she loved
them. All I was thinking at that point was that Catherine wouldn’t like this one bit.
Finally though we arrived and checked into the hotel. It was really nice, very plush. I was quite
happy with the room itself, even though my colleague had been upgraded, and as the concierge put it
“and, you’ve not….”.
We nipped out for a spot to eat, full of hope, having heard that Leeds was a young persons city,
vibrant and full of life. We were pretty disappointed. There wasn’t much to do at all.
My hopes were raised though on my return to the room, where I found that they had turned down my
bed and left me this (not to mention complimentary fruit and water). All I had left to do was to
pillage the tea, coffee and toiletries, before heading to bed!
