03-04-05 highlands

Spent the day hillwalking, on the balmoral estate. Didn't get a lot of photos as the cloud was so
low it ruined any contrast - hence the strange shot.

If I wasn't typing this just now I could swear that I was dead from the thigh down. It's pretty sore.

Although you are rewarded with views like this over loch Muick, and onto glas-allt-shiel, where
Queen Victoria built a lochside home. It was here, it's rumoured, she spent time with John Brown.

No snakes this time though.

It looks like a great place! I can see why your legs would be tired, though. Great sense of space in this shot.

Two scary things here... snakes and hillwalking. I loved Zak's comment.

Gets like this in Sobranes Canyon over here. Lots of beautiful low hanging clouds/fog, but difficult to convey through the lens. I think you managed some nice contrast here, however, as well as a sense of scope.

One of my favorite things about pbase is seeing people's homeland in daily photos, rather than just in publicity shots.

What a wonderful, wild look this has.

Really nice shot - looks like a great place to go walking.

ahh a touch of romance.. thinking that she had a getaway here..
I like how the mountains part to see the distant ones in the haze. Or maybe their very big craggy hills? Anyhow.. very nice
