09-12-04 prop of ythsie

Went out for a drive this afternoon, over towards Ellon. The intention was to walk round the grounds
of Haddo House, a local stately home. However we were distracted by some new housing thats being
put up in the local area, and basically ran out of light.

Today's photo was taken at just after 3.30pm when it was starting to get dark. It's of the Prop of
Ythsie - more information can be found here. The Prop (landmark), is the tower you can see on the
far hillside, surrounded by trees.

The photo really didn't come out the way I had intended, the sun was just going down behind the
hills, there was a fair bit of mist coupled with some really nice pink clouds. However as I was perched
on the sills of the car, whilst on a single track road, with some of the local drivers screaming past, I
make no apologies for the quality! I'm just happy still to be in one piece.

We're going to attempt Haddo again tomorrow, weather and light permitting.

I really like the atmospherics here ... beautiful subtle colours in the sky!
Very nice catch, Dom!

Wonder how many of us will be thankful to be alive at the end of our PaD exercise??
I do like the hazy mountains, and the dark foreground. Captured the mood!

I noticed the lovely sky here too. I was too lazy though, just lay about at home...

Sounds a bit hairy :-)) Worth it to get the pic though, the sky is great. Looks like you were in the middle of nowhere!
