Aberdeen --> Schipol --> Amsterdam --> Schipol --> Luxembourg
The day got off to an early start when my alarm went off just after 4am. Thankfully I had a good
nights sleep and wasn't too tired when the taxi arrived just before 5. The first leg of the
journey went fairly smoothly, other than being delayed 10 minutes, and then having to wait another
15 minutes for the wings to be de-iced. Little did we know at that point this was going to have a
fairly major impact on the day.
Our arrival in Schipol was again set back as we landed on a new runway and then had to taxi for
roughly ten minutes before arriving at the stand. By this point we knew that despite making up 10
minutes en route, our connection to Luxembourg was looking dodgy, as it was due to take off in 25
minutes. So we practically ran from one end to the other, arriving with 8 minutes before the
flights departure, only to find we had missed it by 2 minutes as they needed to bus us out to the aircraft.
So we did what anyone else would, stowed the bags in left luggage, and headed into Amsterdam for a
couple of hours, before catching our now re-scheduled flight.
We walked around Amsterdam, around the Anne Frank Huis area, before going back to make the
connection. Finally at around 4.30pm we arrived in our hotel (pictured). Before we had to head
back out for a meeting with KPMG. By 7pm we had finished and met our London colleague in the hotel
before heading out for something to eat, and finally a well deserved nights sleep!
