20-09-04 along the dee

This PAD was a real labour of love.
The bridge was known (in our house anyway), as the Shakin' Briggy.

Got home fairly early from work, ate something quickly,
and then shot out along the River Dee, to Cults in the suburbs,
to get to the bridge in time for the last hour of sunlight.

The Dee runs through the south side of the city,
and is one of Scotland’s Salmon rivers.
You can often go down to the riverside at night,
and find people in their waders in the middle of the river.

Although I’m from Aberdeen, we left when I was small, only for me to
return to go to University, and eventually settled there again.
Basically this means that things which are mundane and normal for my wife,
(who has lived here all her life)are new to me,
and it’s a lot of fun discovering them with my camera too.

Looking through the thumnails.. I saw this.. and I thought I recognised it.
I see it's still standing then !!
In my house it's called that too. Ex-Aberdonian

Could do with a lick of paint. And a deck wouldn't go amiss either. I guess it must be true what they say about Aberdonians and parting with money ;-) (only kidding!)

Wow .. it really has character! Really old and rusty. I hope it's still save to cross one of these briges :-) Anyway great capture, Dominic :-)

Very nice, this definitely causght my attention yesterday as I was cruising quickly through the PAD gallery. Today, I have a chance to stop and leave a comment. I really like the composition and lighting.

What a great looking structure. I can see why you would be attracted to take photos of it. The coloumns look so massive and yet the bridge looks small in comparison ... curious!

We used to mess around on this as kids! It's looking even worse for wear now...
