07-09-04 victorian architecture

Yesterday's photo didn't go so well. I thought it was weak at the time, but didn't have time to
take any more. And going by the lack of comments, people voted with their feet! So today I've
gone a bit more artsy, and a bit less fartsy.

I'm lucky enough to work in a listed building. It's a pain in the neck for the interior designers,
not being able to rip out the old copper bannisters. But I think it's great. It means that
fittings like this are protected and preserved, and some tw*t can't just get rid of them just
because it doesn't fit with the design scheme (daahling).

These are the lights in our stairwell. One on each corner of the stairposts.

Photoshopped it a bit to try and achieve the cyanotype effect.

Sounds like a nice place to work. This is lovely.

Think both are great. I would choose the sepia simply to match it to the Victorian era which is beautiful & three cheers for heritage listings !!! Now, I would give an arm & leg to have these ornate lights.

I like this a lot! love this toning (though I like the sepia too)and like the lines in the shot. Also thanks for stopping by some of my older stuff and taking the time to leave comments, really appreciate it.

I like them both, never saw yesterday's - too busy! But remember rule #1 - the PADs for you!

This version really points up the unusual glass and the ornate railing. The sepia version has more of a sense of "whole" to it showing an beautiful old-timey building. In other words, I like them both.
