Guest Running Program

The Dixie Model Railroad Club provides the "Guest Running Program" to non-members in order to promote the hobby of model railroading and its enjoyment on a large HO scale layout in Nashville, Tennessee. This program allows a person to operate his or her own equipment on our club layout during the Club's scheduled running sessions which usually occur once a month on a Saturday.

There is a $10 operating fee for each person operating on the layout and must be paid prior to starting your session. The hours of operation are from 12 noon to 4:00 PM. The layout operates with a Digitrax DCC system. Guest operators should have their own Digitrax throttle to operate. All locomotives must be DCC equipped.

The Club requests that anyone wishing to operate on the layout contact an officer of the club at least two (2) weeks prior to the running session. A telephone contact for this is listed below. Running sessions are scheduled on a non-holiday third Saturday of each month.

The location of the layout is in a basement environment which is not handicap-accessible.

The following rules apply to all guests and anyone they bring with them:

[1] Any guest operator must be at least 12 years old.

[2] Any guest operator between the ages of 12 and 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Any children under the age of 12 must be under the control of a parent or guardian at all times.

[3] All guest operators and anyone else that may accompany them must sign a Waiver of Liability for any personal injuries they or anyone accompanying them may incur.

[4] All guest operators must familiarize themselves with the operating rules and signal rules before they begin operation. The layout is controlled by a Dispatcher - he controls all signals and switches as well as directs train movement at his discretion.Continued violations of the rules or failure to obey the Dispatcher may result in the end of the guest's operating session.

[5] The guest operator is responsible for handling his train in a safe manner. If the guest causes any damage to the layout or members' equipment, the guest may be required to pay for any repairs or replacement of equipment. The guest operator may also be held responsible for any damages caused by those persons accompanying him.
