Test Scans of 35mm Slides
HP-Landrover.jpgInside the caldera looking for the lakes of Manengouba volcano. Scanned on an HP flat bed with a TMA. Some post scan editing on the PC with uncalibrated monitor. (Bad idea!) |
Minolta Land-Rover.jpgSame picture scanned on the Minolta. Improved sharpness of 3100 dpi scan is immediately evident. This photo has had some dust editing in Photoshop. |
Nikon-LRover-WEB.jpgScanned on Nikon Coolscan V ED with Digital ICE and ROC. NO dust clean up, small color/contrast in Nikon Scan and Photoshop. Click on "original" size to see improved resolution over other samples. |
Found on the WebSpooky coincidence! Found this picture on the web. Same site, same color car! |
HP-Hut.jpgScan from the HP. Probably maximum of 1200 dpi. Look at the wine/beer bottles used as threshold of this Bakossi hut. |
Minolta-Bakossi-House.jpgScanned on the Minolta. Colors are not correct, but the higher resolution shows on the bottles used as a threshold. |
Minolta-Ladies.jpgFulani ladies at Manengouba. Note the dust/mold spiders in the sky and the mildew damage in the grass. Some post processing to reveal face detail. |
-Nikon-Ladies-Web.jpgThe Nikon's digital ICE does some clean up of dust and scratches, but doesn't get it all. Purple mildew blossoms are unaffected.
Comments updated - I'm not sure if this slike was Ektachrome or Kodachrome. This SCAN was made on the Kodachrome setting as the "positive" setting seemed too blue. |
Walkin' The DawgThe Major Dog makes a pit stop in the lower Andes of Ecuador, en route to Bolivia. August, 1976 |
Digging OutStuck in the sand south of Agadez, Niger |
BeforeThis is the initial scan with digital cleaning to remove dirt and scratches. |
Photo BreakA stop to photograph the countryside with my trusty Spotmatic and wonderful 35mm F2. |
Lioness - Before |
Lioness - AfterThere was not a lot in the original image to work with as it was a bit overexposed and had faded over the years, but the results are not bad. All editing done with Apple's Aperture. |
Unhappy CamperOne of the Sultan's courtiers. He was not too pleased about being asked to pose. |
