The Sixth Century Monastery of Skellig Michael Island

Perched on top of the desolate island of Skellig Michael stands an ancient monastery dating back to the sixth century. 600 steps take you from the coastline right up to the monastery and the view is worth the climb. The island is also famous for its Puffins. https://pbase.com/digitalrebel/puffins

This is, by far, the greatest adventure in Ireland. We did the climb (I only made it about halfway) and would go there again in a heartbeat. Just to sit on the rocks with my beautiful puffins inches away was thrilling! The crossing of the sea to get there is scarier than any amusement ride. Can't wait to return.

A very unique place in the world. I hope to go there before my days run out but never during a storm! That would be scary. Thanks for the outstanding photos.

I've wanted to go to Skellig Michael for years, but now I'm too old to manage the 600 steps. However, your photos are wonderful. They make me feel I'm there. Thank you.
