Stained Glass Squirrel

1.Duplicated original layer. Hid original. This will be my working layer.
2.New layer: Outlined squirrel. Created the rest of the design.
3.Moved outline layer up, added new layer between it and the duplicated original photo. Bucket filled white. Lowered opacity on it so I could still see the working original layer.
4.Painted with Low opacity on the white layer, colors you might see in real stained glass.
5. Smudged working layer (copy of original) to look more like stained glass.
6. Merged everything but the black outline layer. (use merge visible with the black layer hid)
7. Smudge blended a little trying to mix the white layer and the bottom layer to look like stained glass striations.
8. Merged all. Duplicated.
9. Used the texture called Polished Stone on the top layer. Adjusted the opacity to let original layer show through to help tone it down a little. I used a dark taupe color on the Polished Stone drop down menu where you pick whatever color you want.

other sizes: small medium original auto

This is SO COOL!! The colors in the squirrel are wonderful, as is the leafy background you created. I love stained glass in real life, and this looks real. The results of using my stained glass filter make me laugh, so I see that there's more to it than just clicking a button. Thanks for the tutorial, Anita. You never cease to amaze me. Bethany
