Chalk on Black Tutorial

PSP X Open Image. Create new layer. Fill with black. Lower opacity enough so you can see the flowers through the black, so you can basically trace them.
Pick your paint color and check the texture box. Pick out a kind of rough cement texture for the paint, not the canvas. Use the airbrush but pick a soft preferably a kind of dry paintbrush or wispy style. Your paint will not be as opaque as normal with the texture box checked.
Adjust size and start painting over the flowers with black layer as active one. Keep painting, changing colors and possibly brush shapes, keeping it on airbrush. When you think you have most of the flowers covered, move your opacity back to 100% on the black. Add color where necessary to fill in. Now, using a really cool dry brush as large as you can make it and on about 50% opacity setting and one of the more muted colors, start dabbing it lightly over the whole picture, mainly in the blank areas to add interest. This is a new thing I am developing and it needs some tweaking. If you don't have any brushes like I use, just let me know and I will send you some or make you some custom ones for Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro X.
