Al Gasso (1932-2007)

Al Gasso joined Digital Nuts on January 6, 2006.
From the day he joined, he was a regular and frequent contributor to our Weekly Nutcracker. His work can also be found in our other galleries too.

Al passed away April 17, 2007. The first image in this gallery ("Spring Flowers") was his final contribution.

Thank you all who have posted. My dad loved doing this art and only started in the last couple years of his life. Thank you for all the great things you have said. We are hanging a lot of his art in our home. I am looking into publishing some of his work for sale. He was truly amazing turning his back problem that landed him in bed, into his art that brought such joy to so many and will continue on. Love you Dad!

Al will be sadly missed. I heard he was in a lot of pain at the end but he continued to paint away and is a tribute to us all.

We will all miss Al's comments. We can take comfort in the fact that his association with this group was a joy to him and helped to ease his pains and have a circle of good friends.

I have learned much from Al's strong graphic style, his willingness to try new things and share the results, good or not so great, as well as breathtaking, and his sense of humor.

Oh boy, I bet he is up there painting away!..watching us struggle to
create his style! I am sure going to miss looking for his work each day..
it was such an inspiration..I learned a lot. This is a wonderful tribute..

I was so sorry to hear of Al's passing, He was my friend.We became friends almost from the moment he joined. (I was one of the mods then and had to remind him about his image sizes.) We had lots of chats. I admired his courage so much. He was always in pain ,and had very little mobility, but he never complained.He had so much talent ,and was so much fun. He had so many interesting stories to share. He will be sorely missed.

Al's humor and creativity really added pizzazz to the group! He was so productive daily, even though he was in very poor health, in a lot of pain, and confined to his bed. I hope he was an inspiration to everyone, always trying something new. He was my friend, and always knew what to say when I was feeling frustrated with my art. We shared a lot of laughs and I will really miss him. He encouraged me so much and gave me a lot of advice on marketing my art. I will miss his mirrored images and his famous ladies in his creations. He was a true character!
