The Training Tool

My new cat, Carly Nicole, is pretty well behaved. But there are times
when she wants to explore places that aren't all the safe, such as behind
my desk where there are lots of wires and cables. Clapping my hands,
saying "No!" sharply, and other similar methods are met with a blank stare.

Enter my Acme Cat Trainer: a water bottle. A quick and harmless squirt
definitely gets Carly's attention, FAST. And best of all she doesn't
associate the negative reinforcement with me. In her little kitty brain,
she is trying to figure out why she gets a squirt every time she starts
to explore behind my desk. I hope she never figures it out!

Are you sure this is good for the wires and cables?

Hehe! Works well! Trained many a cat like that! And, it doesn't hurt them either!

Hey, maybe that technique would work with our clients.

We used to do that with my cat. It worked so well that any time we had to correct his behavior, we didn't even have to squirt the water. Or even use the same bottle for that matter. Anything with a nozzle worked . . . an aerosol hairspray can, a pump hand lotion bottle, etc. Just pointing any nozzle at him was all it took.

A bottle of red... a bottle of white... :-)
