Holy Macro Batman

For whatever reason, I was up half the night last night (Saturday)
reading all about macro lenses and techniques. One that fascinates
me is reversing a lens in front of another lens. Just as an experiment,
I reversed an old Canon 100 f2.8 FD lens in front of my Sigma 55-200
(it fit perfectly) and took some shots. All silly stuff. This is part
of a book cover of 776 Stupid Things that people have said.

I used flash, and I was about 1 inch away from the book. Obviously,
this isn't going to be a good combination by any means, (and of course
there's the problem of vignetting) but I thought this picture was
rather cool in it's own weird way, and since it's almost 1 a.m. it
can qualify for Sunday's PaD.

Canon EOS 300D Digital Rebel ,Sigma 55-200mm f/4-5.6 DC
1/100s f/14.0 at 55.0mm iso1600 with Flash full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Have you thought about trying to place 2 people like chating in front of the lens in this way, so that could looks like 2 persons waiting the door to be opened, while you are watching trough that little hole atthe door to see who is knocking.

This shoot looks great!!!

Welcome to the fascinating world of macro photography.

You're experiments won't end up this this book, for sure.
Must have been fun doing this. Vingetting looks kinda funky fun.

Variety is the spice of life. We can always expect spice from you Gary. Thanks for the fun.

Ah the mad scientist at work creating new combinations so the rest of us can learn from his great devotion to learning. We can say good job, and I don't think I'll bother trying this. ;-)

Very unusual!

The early bird etc. but this is even to early for a bird.
Oh wait I forgot the night owl.
Neat idea.

Too darn clever. :>)

This is neat, Gary. It looks like an ad.

This is very cool Gary! I too have read about reversing lenses, and I think people traditionally use a 50mm, but this works too! If you want to get into macro, without spending too much, get a set of kenko tubes. I have a set, and I love them, other than getting a dedicated macro lens, I think this is a good route to go with.

Don't quit experimenting with stuff Gary - the challenge is to take a shot no one has ever thought of doing before - or just doing it in a completely different way.
