Relay

My daughter Lyndsey at her swim meet, waiting to swim the third leg
of a relay. She was entered in four events (three solo) and came in
first in every one -- something that's never happened before!

Caught this with my trusty 50mm 1.8, the best darn value in Canon's
lineup. It has a wonderful manual zoom. If you want to zoom in, you move closer.
Zoom out? Back up. LOL

(On a side note, I had my worst fears confirmed by the eye doctor. I have
a fungus on my cornea which we're fighting with medication. No contacts
for the next 2-6 weeks, drops 4x a day, and we'll see. Thanks for all the
kind words and expressions of concern -- it means a lot!)

Wow Gary, talk about mixed emotions in one reading, congrats to your daughter and I sure hope the drops and keeping the contacts out helps, keep us up to date.

This kind of events with kids are fantastic time!! PLease take care of that eye. The good thing I find here is that you keep that fantastic mood, as I can see with your great zoom!! Take care!!

Great shot, Gary! Some of my happiest memories are from the days my kids swam in meets. Lyndsey looks terrific! I hope the meet went well.

The 50mm 1.8.. the only lens that I've got! It really is great. I'm becoming very fond of prime lenses. But I most likely will soon get a wide angle-telephoto lens soon. Yup.. more money out of the piggy bank it is. :( But, it's a passion. I love photography.

Sorry to hear about your eye problem Gary. I do hope it can be cleared up hastily. As for Lindsey, my congrats on a job well done. She looks like a winner too !!

Great shot Gary - standing on the block makes her seem all alone yet there are so many others in the shot to look at too. Sorry about your eye - don't be tempted to miss those drops and it'll hopefull be the quickest 4-6 weeks ever.

I like the event atmosphere. I agree with you about the lense but i cant find anywhere 50 f:1.8 MkI.
