On the Seventh Day, He Rested

Rosecrans National Cemetary

This little boy was given only six days on Earth. I can only imagine
what struggles he suffered, until the seventh day, when he was home
again, and at peace.

Perhaps his parents still miss him, fifty-five years later, and if so,
I wish they could know that someone, on this day, paused to reflect
on the love they gave their son, so many years ago.

Isn't it so true about graveyards? Once a few years ago, I was in a graveyard in Edgartown on Martha's Vineyard very early in the morning when I was startled by a workman who asked me if I needed help finding anything. I replied that I enjoyed visiting graveyards because of the stories they told - each line of graves reveals a different tale if one pauses long enough to piece it together.
Furthermore, many of the older graves are all that remains of entire lives lived and their family connections, and but for the thoughts of the living person standing before them, they no longer exist. For brief moments their lives mean something once again, as is shown in this photo and these comments. Nicely done.

That's so sad and yet so wonderful that his memory lives on in your photograph.
I don't know what I would have done if my son had only lived 7 days.
God bless the little guy.

Gary, Big congrats on a great photo!!
First at all because your patience on finding it. Second your thoughts are great, the title matches fantastic and the tones gives a nice touch. The result A very touching photo.

I was reading the first coment and remind when around 19 years ago a cousin of mine passed away in car crash. He was only 12 year old and someone told me that day "Is sad that his life was only starting" And I said "Yes, now is started in Heaven"

Beautifully done Gary, what an aweful thing to go through, my thoughts and prayers go out for any parents who have had to endure the loss of a child, I truely believe it is the worst thing on can endure in life.

A beautiful photo, coupled with your beautiful thoughts. Sad that a life barely started had to end. :(
