Histogram of Denise' Picture

A histogram is a graphical display showing the dynamic range (highlights, midtones, shadows) of an image. This histogram shows a nice range of tones, but there is a spike at the right of the image indicating areas that are too bright. Many of today's cameras have a built-in histogram display that you can see AFTER you shoot the image, so you can readjust your settings if the histogram shows that the picture will be too light or too dark. In the case of this image I probably would have make an exposure compensation of minus 1/3 or 2/3. I don't think the G1 had a histogram in it on playback. Correct me if I am wrong. There are a few cameras that will show the histogram BEFORE you take the picture and that's better because you don't have to shoot something more than once to get the proper exposure.

Thanks Isabel,
That is very interesting. I will take a look at the histogram when I am doing editing and adjust accordingly.
