Fake Black Background with Flash

Experimented with Roy's settings in his latest insect and flower close-ups. By using a real fast shutter speed (I had to set my 580ex on the "H" setting so I could go beyond 1/250 of a second)the background gets seriously underexposed and goes black (or in this case, nearly black). This was taken of a flower box on my deck railing and I still could see detail in the background so I selected it using selective color in PS CS2 and adjusted the levels to make it go completely black. Thanks, Roy, for sharing your method! I used the Lumiquest Softbox on the direct flash. I took it to the dog show because it packs flat and takes up less space in my camera bag than the Gary Fong Lumisphere and dome.
