Tamron 150-600mm

Just purchased the new Tamron 150-600mm lens and these are my first attempts at using it. All the shots were taken from hand.
The lens has a vibration reducing system (Tamron calls it Vibration Compensation) which is absolutely necessary when zooming past 300mm.
However, getting sharp photos at 600mm even with the VC on is a challenge.

My two cents worth, except in Canada we no longer have cents, so, my nickel's worth. Hand holding even with VC the shutter speed needs to be the reciprocal of the focal length, in excess of 1/600 of a second at the long end. Minimum 1/1000 on a cropped sensor.
For slower shutter speeds a tripod and external shutter release would be an absolute must.
I like the results you are getting, that said I have never taken or seen a sharp image of an otter. I have no idea why.
