As a young boy we fished for bullheads in the reservoir until one day the game warden caught us and made us throw back all the fish. He had frightened us to death, we knew we shouldn't be there, he snuck up on us and sort of just appeared with a billowing voice demanding "what are you boys doing?" Looking back on it if I would have been cooler and more collected I might have said something like "our homework, what does it look like we're doing?". But at that time, i was too startled and afraid to say anything more than..."fishing". He said next time it would be $50.00 a fish. That summer I was mowing lawn for $1.00 a lawn (which took anywhere from an hour to two to finish) and realized 5 fish at $50.00 a piece would put me into my college years before I would ever finish paying that fine. The reservoir was the source of water for the town of Orchard Park. I guess they didn't want us swimming and fishing in their drinking water. It is off of Hayes Hollow Road and this little outlet runs into Pipe Creek that runs in to the Cazanovia Creek which cuts the borough of West Falls down the middle on its way to Lake Erie.
