I get up early, not sure why, I think it is because my father always got up early and kind of set the trend. Anyway, this morning at about 4:45 as I walked out to the kitchen to make coffee, clear out the dishwasher, make my lunch and stoke the fire in the "Alaska" room stove I happened to have the chance to look out the living room window. The moon was bright in a clear winter star studded sky and shinning through the oak tree and sparkling on the snow covered yard. I wanted to see if I could capture it. I am pretty close but not quite there. The moon light is bright yet so subtle that the tendency is either to expose so there is not enough light and the scene is too dark or to make the moon light too dominant and the light is too intense. This was as close as I had time for this morning. Anyway it was 11 degrees out, my hands were cold and the coffee in my cup almost froze so I had to step back in.
