Prior to the 1980's this dove was rarely seen as far north as Central Texas, as it was primarily a South Texas and Mexican bird. We have seen an influx of these birds to the point that smaller less agressive inca dove and mourning doves have dropped off drastically. The large swarms of white wings appears to be a benefit to suburban Cooper's hawks which have increased proportionately.
