How You Doin?

I guess it has been a while since I did a picture like this.
I did a bunch of them after my Ex left me.
They all meant something different to me.
This one does as well because it is new.
As you can see, the beard is gone again.
Even the flavor saver has been shaved away.
That was actually a snap decision this morning.
Let me tell you about that little flavor saver.
Call it a Jazz Dot if you need to be less tacky.
I started growing it the day she left me.
Through all my facial hair reconfigurations,
it was the only part of them that was always there.
See, she never let me have any facial hair.
She hated it with a passion, just like the earrings.
So I really grew it in protest to the oppression.
Well, all of a sudden, everything is starting to feel different.
I know this is all part of the process, but there is something new.
It is a feeling of peace that I have not felt in years.
I no longer have to dance around things.
All of the bullshit has been washed away by the divorce.
I feel much less wounded now.
I am no longer a duck missing a wing.
I am coming out of this long cold winter that has lasted too long.
As Jean Valjean once said, "My race is not yet run".

I guess for this one year, spring comes in January!
Oh, and the earrings?
Don't worry, they aint goin nowhere!
I put them back on the day she moved out.
They are not a protest,
they are part of me.
A part of me she could never accept.
Never again will I betray that for anyone!
