NISI

Something happened yesterday.
It is something very few people saw.
It happened in Canton, MA.
Somewhere in the probate court some papers moved.
Sunday was 30 days since my actual divorce hearing.
Yesterday was the first business day since that.
I am quite sure the clerk knew that.
It is probably in a box or a stack of papers.
In that box or stack were "our" papers.
The clerk probably pulled them out and put them on the judges desk.
He looked them over quickly and signed them.
The proper name of it is "Judgement Divorce Nisi".
I would guess it then got boxed back up with a bunch of others.
It will now sit in the dark somewhere for another 3 months.
Three more months until the "Absolute Judgement of Divorce".
I can not really explain the comfort I get from marking these dates.
They would happen even if I did not mark them.
And yet, there is something freeing in knowing them as they pass.
I know that the world today is different than it was yesterday.
April 5th is the actual next date.
April 7th is the filing of the Final Divorce Judgement.
Somehow I bet that the picture on April 7th will be pretty cool.
I bet it will be from a place I have never been yet.
And, it will be spring!
