Don't do it.. Doh

I was too late to save them.
It must have happened hours ago.
It was probably all sunshine and flowers.
Everyone probably smiled and laughed.
And I know, I am a little bitter about it.
Well, not bitter, maybe jaded, just a bit.
The whole thing is kind of an illusion.
It sounds good, but you probably settled.
And those decisions you make will make you.
The things you think you know?
Oh the list of those goes on and on.
But a funny thing starts to happen.
And when you look back on it all?
They started way before today.
That compromise you made will haunt you.
All of them will return to roost.
And then the real hard stuff starts.
Someone is not quite as happy anymore.
They look at you with a little distain.
One of you went into it thinking wrong.
One of you thinks the other will make them happy.
And when that is not the result, the mirror cracks.
I might be wrong about this whole thing.
Maybe you two are the ones for each other.
But your odds are really not that good.
And that is an interesting part of statistics.
They say 50% of marriages end in divorce.
The other 50% end in death (ouch).
But how many of the 50% are happy?
Really, how many happy ones are there?
Think of all the couples you know right now.
Go through them in your head.
Tell me, how many are really happy?
How many of them like their mate.
I didn't say love, I said like.
I think relationships that work are rare.
Really really rare and precious.
So hard to find, and even harder to keep.
So here is a little picture I took today.
It is just of a little sign on the road.
Two people got married at the curch here.
Will they be happy? Or are they doomed?
I will never know that, but I can guess:
