Let's go GOLFIN!!!

Winter gloves: Check
Sweatshirt: Check
Long Johns: Check
Hand warmers: Check
Cool Hat: Check

Well actually the sweatshirt came off after the next hole.
The sun slowly warmed me up enough to loosen up a bit.
As layers came off I started hitting a lot better.
Walking up this fairway I could not care about cold.
It was just great to be out golfing and having fun.
Sometimes that is kind of the key of life as I see it.
There are minor things that can get in the way of it.
I could have let the cold bother me and had no fun.
That is not how I like to live my life though.
I would rather lace them up and go out and enjoy.
That was all this day was about you know.
Having fun, seeing friends, having some nachos.
Yes I would have liked it to be 70 degrees out.
But this is the day I was given to do this.
And do it I did because I won the match!
Russ (the man I was visiting) got me back to golf.
He was with me the first time I played after the accident.
I remember standing on the tee with him in June of 2003.
Remember it like it just happened 10 minutes ago.
It was my first time playing in 4 years.
The feeling of the dew on the grass and the crisp air.
I teed off with a 9 iron on a par 5.
I have the ball and the club that I hit on my shelf.
Memories like that are the good stuff in life.
They are the important moments that matter.
No matter what happens I have the triumph of coming back.
The pain and problems that went into doing it don't matter.
All that mattered was that first shot off a tee again.
When I look at a picture like this I smile.
It is just a man carrying his golf clubs up a fairway.
And yet, to me, it is so much more, because it is me.
