If you write it, they will come

Actually that does not have to be true in this case.
And I now quote from myself:

Good journey to you all in 2008.
May your dreams come true.
In fact, make them true.
You are the only one that can.
No other person in the world can do that but you.
Try to have less fear holding you back.
Try to do something you always wanted to do.
See something or somewhere you always wanted to.
If you can dream it, you can do it.

I wrote that one year ago today.
As I read it now a smile comes to my face.
2008 has been a great year in my life.

I have learned and seen so much this year.
I have eaten LOTS of sushi.
I have seen shows (lots of shows).
I have had LOTS of coffee.
I have ridden shopping carts.
I have lost a Plantaris Tendon.
I have had dinner with friends.
I have written bad stories.
I have been on some dates.
I have crashed many virtual cars.
I have thrown things away.
I have been on trips.
I have golfed.
I have been angry.
I have been hurt.
I have been sick.
I have jumped for Joy.
I have gotten phone calls I did not want.
I have paid a fortune for gas.
I have had a few beers.
I have replaced things I lost.
I have lost a friend (Bye again Sam Sam)
I have seen jets.
I have been sad.
I have bought cameras.
I have walked in the rain.
I have run out of ketchup.
I have had pizza.
I have found ex-wife bombs.
I have visited friends.
I have reclaimed what was mine.
I have seen strange animals.
I have boxed.
I have welcomed football back.
I have been on drives.
I have been to Disneyworld!
I have taken pictures of squirrels.
I have touched a ducks bum.
I have heard metaphors.
I have been kissed.
I have eaten an omelet.
I have faked yoga.
I have been given a drawer.
I have given a drawer.
I have had a cheeseburger (or two ;-)
I have been supported.
I have been loved.
I have seen bookends.
I have written letters.
I have been shocked.
I have been surprised.
I have shoveled snow.
I have pet kitties.
I have heard music.
I have given the finger.
I have been given the finger.
I have confided in friends.
I have confronted things that scared me.
I have cared for myself.
I have talked to pillows.
I have voted.
I have had flu shots.
I have walked in support of a cause.
I have had Popeye arms.
I have talked to strangers.
I have waved to the famous.
I have marveled at acrobats.
I have played guitar.
I have slow danced to Colbie.
I have developed film.
I have seen the other end of the tunnel.
I have found a shirt.
I have thrown away a shirt.
I have walked proud.
I have seen rainbows.
I have fixed toilets.
I have contemplated my existence.
I have laughed at my lunch.
I have been to the emergency room.
I have putted for money.
I have been on a ship.
I have walked a beach.
I have walked a cliff.
I have been to the center of the universe.
I have thrown notes into the ocean.
I have had comics written about me.
I have smiled.
I have paid my mortgage.
I have filed my taxes.
I have said time out.
I have met new people whom I call friend.
I have been complimented.
I have smoked cigars.
I have been offered to go back (no).
I have ignored junkmail.
I have replaced an X-box.
I have deleted pictures.
I have sweat while hiking.
I have seen Cherry Blossoms.
I have been hugged (very well).

That is a list of 100 things I have done in 2008.
It does not even BEGIN to describe my year though.
As I look back on it now it is just amazing to me.
As the year started I was looking forward to it.
Really the whole divorce thing kind of pinched 2007.
And really that did not complete until December of 2007.
2008 was the start of the real journey of recovering from it.
And what a journey it has been.
I think I grew more this year than any other year of my life.
I finally found my voice, and it is a clear one.

Obviously I did not do all this alone.
I do want to thank the people that helped along the way.
I'm not going to mention names here though.
All I am going to do is say Thank You for everything.

And I just want to wrap up this first one of 2009 with hope again.
Hope is what helped carry me through this last year.
And hope is what I shall carry into the next year with me.
I hope I learn as much in 2009 as I did in 2008.
I know that some of those lessons will be hard.
I know there will be challenges to get through.
I hope there will be mountains to climb.
I hope that when I get to the top of those mountains I look around.
I also hope I look on the way up them so I don't miss something great.
I hope there are hundreds of things that stand out along the way.
I hope the list a year from now is as much fun to write as this one.
I hope I am the best person I can be in 2009.
And if I get off track along the way, I hope I correct that.
Welcome to 2009 and Happy New Year!
-Dave

How we take everyday life for granted! You have turned the mundane into thought provoking poetry filled with memories... good and bad and come out whole and inspired to live life one day at a time and to celebrate that life.

And now it is 2011! Another new beginning to another year.
