Brian Boru was the last High King of Ireland and died at the battle of Clontarf in 1014AD. His ring fort in Killaloe was later substantially modified by the Normans. The sides were probably lower in the original ring fort but like the Norman version would have been steep before erosion. It appears that the Normans never completed their fort.
