Strokestown House

Strokestown / Co. Roscommon

Strokestown House was built between 1701 and 1792. It has some unusual features. In the left wing there is the original galleried kitchen and in the opposite wing there is a stable built to match the house. Unlike many restored houses all the original furniture was retained in the house. The out buildings house the national famine museum and the small but elaborate formal garden was restored ten years ago.
