A well-built Yazgulomi man stands in front of a home in his village. He is a keen wrestler. He lives in the valley of Yazgulom, and speaks the language Yazgulomi, which is spoken nowhere else. About 6,000 people live in Yazgulom, in five different villages. Yazgulom's residents are Pamiri. The vast majority of Pamiris are Ismaili, but by contrast Yazgulomis practice the Sunni branch of Islam. Photo taken on July 19, 2011 in Yazgulom, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, Tajikistan.
