Discussion - Yazgulom

view map

Two men are in the midst of discussion while at the entrance to a home. Fruit, tea and a photo album are sitting on a table. The man on the right side is Yazgulomi. About 6,000 people live in Yazgulom, in five different villages. Their language, Yazgulomi, is spoken nowhere else. Yazgulom's residents are Pamiri. The vast majority of Pamiris are Ismaili, but by contrast Yazgulomis practice the Sunni branch of Islam. Photo taken on July 20, 2011 in Matravn, Yazgulom, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, Tajikistan.
