A portion of a Japanese Garden in the ABS-CBN Eco Village.
After a career in teaching, a Japanese professor decided to dedicate two years of his life to the farm you see here, which is called the "Shumei Natural Agricultural Farm". For 3 months he planned with mathematical precision every aspect of the farm. Everything is natural, and comes from the local area. No chemicals. Nothing artificial. There are no pipes made from foreign materials -- instead he used bamboo. After the planning, he set to work like a laborer, working 12 hour days under the hot sun, taking only one hour for lunch. He created a mix of art and science. He called it his "gift to Mother Earth".
Not so long after the completion of this huge effort, he developed brain cancer and died in Japan.
This is truly his gift to us all.
