Tripod tests

These are tripod tests to see how well they are working, or not.

Shot with my D2x with the 70-200mm VR lens (VR off), mounted on a RRS "foot" mount on the lens to the ballheads.

Thanks for the test. I have a Gitzo and a D2x and have been somewaht disappointed with results. I am going to go out and "play" with mirror lock-up. I have had better luck when I have hung a weight from the hook to stabilize the Gitzo.

MLU = Mirror Lock Up. The internal mirror that normally allows one to see the image in the viewfinder thru the lens "slaps" the camera internally when it swings out of the way during the exposure. MLU locks the mirror up and out of the way before the exposure thus eliminating that vibrational impact. Using MLU had he most obvious beneficial impact in these tests.
