Our second stop on the cruise
We decided to do the helicopter tour up to the Herbert Glacier which also flew out further east over the ice fields and came back in over the Mendenhall Glacier. The blue color is unique and surreal; I'll never forget the color. The wet ice was damned slippery and we couldn't get very close to the crevasses as with one slip, we would never be seen again.
Linda and the boys went shopping and my Mom and I took the gondola up to the Mount Roberts Rainforest which was 1,800' almost straight up through the clouds to the rainforest at the top. It was drizzling and foggy but the green lushness and eerie totem carvings in the trees left a serene and spiritual tone.
