Sample Photos: 300mm f/4 AF-S Nikkor in a Family Photography Situation

I shot a few frames last summer using my Fuji S2 Pro and 300mm f/4 AF-S Nikkor prime lens,in late afternoon, open shade conditions. I kept the ISO at 400 over around two hours, and shot a little over 50 frames. These photos show my typical resuls when using a 300mm lens in a family photography situation. I select a long lens in order to make my pictures appear like those made by an observer, and not made by somebody directly involved with the subject(s). There's a huge difference in the kind of images one gets when using a tele instead of a wide-angle lens in social photography situations. I personally feel the 'tele look' helps convey the feeling that my candids are indeed candid, and that my subject's expressions do not appear to be overly-influenced by my physical nearness or interaction. I frame tightly with a 300mm,and am not afraid of subjects's heads and arms touching the sides of the frame.
