At 1/250 second,a lot of pole vaulting is closed off...that speed's too slow to rely upon and when the light is low enough to be registering f/2.8 at 1/250 autofocus is not that good a proposition,so head-on approaches are difficult,so I decided to focus on the vault judge,and shoot when it looked good as a vaulter came into the frame. I'm pleased with the result of this photo actually.
