DSCF0476_1_OctoberFirst.JPG

I saw this spiderweb and was drawn to how beautiful it appeared in the afternoon light. This photo was taken as a funereal commemoration for a fellow named Yves, a European who had died very suddenly, a few days before this. Where I live, this is the season of the weaving spiders--late Septemeber and early October being the absolute zenith of spider season here. I had been inspired by some photos another Fuji SLR Talk member, Babe, had done in memory of Yves, and so one afternoon I thought I'd try and do my own tribute to Yves. I really didn't do this scene a great deal of justice by using the 80-400 VR lens, and as a macro this shot's not really outstanding, but the web metaphor, and the exact time of year drew me to select this simple scene as a way to pay homage to a recently deceased and very passionate photographer. The spiderweb's odd shape and 3-dimensionality,not the spider, was the drawing point, along with the beautiful light shaft illuminating the web. I wish I would have had another lens to have made this memorial photo for a man whom I only knew through the web.
