This is a view of the front of the Lensbaby,as it arrived. The f/5.6 aperture disc is installed,and is being held in place by a black rubber washer. The f/5.6 aperture is a nice compromise between the f/4 and the f/8 aperture discs. Each disc DOES provide the Lensbaby lens with a different baseline imaging characteristics. The f/8 disc is more to my liking than the f/4 disc is. Of course,diferent scenes will respond differently,and even the f/4 disc will look better in some situations. As with all things involving soft focus and diffusion,it's up to the photographer to tailor the optical effects to the subject matter. At the bottom center of the photo is the top view of the 37mm-threaded solid aluminum lens cap. At bottom right is a nice-quality but generic Nikon-F mount rear lens cap that came with the Lensbaby. The instruction book is very slender. Not shown are the two other washer-type aperture plates or the lucite changing tool for the removal and re-installing of the rubber washer that holds the aperture disc in place.
