I hooked and landed the first salmon of the day on a Deep Six planer fished at 27 pulls (of 28 inches each, reel-to-guide) and a 48 inch 50 pound test leader with a Silver Horde mother-of-pearl salmon plug with SMelly Jelly herring on the plug's tail and the planer's surfaces. We had been fishing about 10 minutes when the fish hit. That was at 4:52 AM. This fish was the second fish of the day, and was hooked around 5:01 AM. Our first trolling pass at The Caves resulted in two chinook, mine of about 10.5 pounds, and Jimmy's fish, which was approaching 20 lbs. This fish was hooked on a plain Brad's Super Bait with a 3/0 black sickle hook and some herring Smelly Jelly and a bit of Shrimp Smelly Jelly on the inside foam insert. The Super Bait was ruined after this fish was landed, snapped right in half at the front section.
