Step9_Spacing-Overview_MG_7416.jpg

This is a HEAVY spinner that uses a heavy-gauge willow-tip in-line blade, and a solid lead body which is held in position by the spinner shaft wire being wrapped in front of the body. The bearing bead is rather large, a 7/32 inch diameter solid brass bead. THis lure will flutter left and right as it drops on slack line into deep slack-water holes, and occasionally salmon will pick it up "on the drop". This lure is very rear-heavy, since the body is solid lead and a large brass bead, and with that rear-weighted design, this lure will resist planing upward toward the surface much better than a French bladed spinner of comparable size. This lure will sink very deep, very quickly, and is idea for casting right into the frothy heads of holes, where spring chinook often nudge up into. This heavyweight spinner can be fished quite well by simply allowing line to slip off of a level-wind reel, and travel downstream, toward salmon that are often 5 to 15 feet from "the top of the hole". In runs of six to eight feet deep, this spinner will work quite deeply when cast down and across and "lead" back to the bank on which you are standing. This spinner fishes somewhat like a 5/8 ounce, heavy-gauge "classic" shaped spoon.
