Kidlets occasionally need some spiffing up by Mom after a hard afternoon of dancing at “Native Trails,” which is presented by the Ft. McDowell Yavapai Nation at the Scottsdale Center for the Arts amphitheater three days a week every spring from January through March. The Center comes alive with Native American music, dance and art presented by Native Americans from the Yavapai, Navajo, Hopi, Pima, Apache and Sioux tribes. Traditional instruments such as flutes, gourds and drums bring excitement and energy to a variety of dances ranging from Pima and inter-tribal pow wow dancing to world champion hoop dancing and the traditional round dance.
