GPS 2R-21 (Delta 2) - 17 August 2009

A Delta 2 rocket blasts off from Cape Canaveral AirForce Station's launch pad 17A at 6:35 a.m. EST carrying a NavstarGlobal Positioning System satellite.

The flight is the 49th and final Delta II-GPS launch. It also marks the final launch from Pad 17A. Next generation GPS satellites are larger and will be launched on Atlas V and Delta IV rockets.

Photos taken from the beach near Cherie Down Park - a distance of about 4 miles.
