Yaroslavl is a lovely city situated at the confluence of the River Kotorosl and the Volga. This location has contributed to the significance of Yaroslavl. For centuries it has been playing an important role in international trading as well as culture. The first Russian theatre was also built here in 1750. There are 77 churches, big and small, inside this city, and the architecture is charming.
At the end of the half-day land tour there was a visit to the Governor's House which is actually an art museum displaying a collection of portraits, furniture and sculpture from the 18th to the 20th century. The guides are all young ladies in dresses styled from that period of time to go with the atmosphere, and they all introduce themselves as the governor's daughters.
