After two days with drizzles or periodical soaking rain in Lake Como district, on the way from Milan to Venice it was very foggy from time to time. I was pretty annoyed

However, after learning that Venice was flooded during those two days before we arrived, and that the tourists were wading through the high water above their ankles, I had to be thankful that we escaped it. The next day, the sky started to clear up a bit in the afternoon.

San Marco Square is full of tourists all year round. The only difference is between crowded and terribly crowded. To me, the charm of Venice is not San Marco Square or the Grand Canal, but the quiet residential areas. All 4 times being there I've never taken a gondola ride. I just like to let myself get lost, wandering around, crossing every bridge, making every turn. There's always something interesting worth a shot.
