Situated between the German and French Cathedrals at the same Gendarmenmarkt Square is the neo-classical Concert Hall (Konzerthaus Berlin), designed by architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel in 1818.
I have other photos of this building taken from other angles, but I chose this one taken from the centre because only this one shows the monument in the front.
The monument is a statue of the famous German poet, Friedrich Schiller. It's a statue of a poet instead of a composer because this building was previously the Royal Theatre, named the Schauspielhaus Berlin. Schiller was one of Germany's greatest playwrights and lyricists.
After being severely damaged during World War II, this theatre was rebuilt and repurposed as a dedicated concert hall, opening under its current name in 1984.
