Tivoli Garden is an amusement park and pleasure garden in Downtown Copenhagen. The park opened on 15 August 1843 and is the second-oldest operating amusement park in the world. The oldest one is also in Denmark.
Tivoli's founder, Georg Carstensen convinced King Christian VIII that "when the people are amusing themselves, they do not think about politics". That's how the permit of the amusement park was first granted.
