LST 325

This LST was sailed back across the Atlantic Ocean and restored. Then taken to the upper Illinois River where it was origianally built.

LST 325 is based in Evansville Indiana. There is a great book on the Shipyard that built these ships in WWII called "A Shipyard in the Cornfields." (This LST was not one of those built in Evansville--just FYI.) When commissioned, the ships left Evansville fully ready for combat operations. We are fortunate to have this treasure here in Southern Indiana. It is still operational and travels along the Ohio to tour various cities each year. Great pic's!
